The third-ranked Georgia women’s tennis team (8-1, 2-0) will return home to take on No. 46 Alabama (4-6, 0-2) and No. 11 Auburn (14-2, 2-0) this weekend at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

The Bulldogs will face the Crimson Tide on Friday at 4 p.m. and will close out the weekend against the Tigers on Sunday at 1. Georgia holds a combined all-time record against the two Alabama schools of 92-10.

“It’ll be exciting to get under the lights,” said Georgia head coach Jeff Wallace. “Spring is in the air, the weather’s great. It’s nice to play when it’s 75, 85 degrees out. Being here in Athens, playing here in the Dan Magill Tennis Complex at Henry Feild Stadium, there’s no better place to be. Alabama and Auburn have great teams, and we’re looking forward to getting back on the courts and competing.”

The match on Friday is Georgia’s first at home since Jan. 30, when the Bulldogs dispatched then-No. 20 Clemson 7-0. In that match, Ellen Perez defeated Joana Eidukonyte, at that point the top-ranked player in the country, in three sets.

Georgia jumped back into the top three of the ITA poll after a strong opening weekend of conference play in which it defeated No. 26 Ole Miss 4-0 and No. 25 Mississippi State 5-2 on the road. Sophomore Kennedy Shaffer (ranked 78th) claimed the match clincher in each of the contests as she improved to 9-0 on the year with a singles win in each dual match.

Perez will look to continue her strong play after defeating two ranked opponents in straight sets last weekend, besting Arianne Hartono of Ole Miss 6-1, 6-1 and No. 11 Jasmine Lee of Mississippi State 6-3, 6-1. The Shellharbour, Australia native was rewarded for her play by cracking the top 10 in the polls for the first time in her young career.

Junior Caroline Brinson (No. 22) and senior Silvia Garcia (No. 75) round out the ranked Bulldogs in singles.

In doubles, Georgia placed two pairs among the ITA ranks with Perez/Mariana Gould at No. 28 and Brinson/Garcia at No. 74.
