Freshman Anna Hertel was named SEC Freshman of the Week once again announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The Warsaw, Poland native had a phenomenal weekend as the Bulldogs as a team swept both Ole Miss on March 6 and Mississippi State on March 8 4-0. Hertel herself went 2-0 in doubles with partner Katarina Jokic defeating No. 53 Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss 6-2 and No. 56 Magda Adaloglou and Tamara Racine of Mississippi State 6-3. The duo themselves are ranked No. 30.

In singles, she picked up her first two SEC wins defeating Bortles 6-3, 6-0 and Alexandra Mikhailuk 6-1, 6-2. Hertel is currently 6-3 in singles competition and has clinched two matches for the Bulldogs over then-No. 22 Georgia Tech and Clemson.

This is the second Freshman of the Week honor for Hertel who was also named Freshman of the Week of Feb. 5 and the third honor for the Bulldogs. Lea Ma was given the honor the week of Jan. 29. Hertel is the only player in the SEC to have won Freshman of the Week honors more than once so far this season.
