Katarina Jokic was named the SEC Player of the Week announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.

Jokic upset top-10 ranked doubles and singles opponents in the Bulldog’s last match against No. 1 North Carolina defeating No. 3 ranked Alexa Graham and Sara Daavetila 6-2 with partner Ania Hertel. In singles, Jokic bested No. 3 ranked Graham 7-6(5), 4-6, 6-3.

Her doubles win over Graham and Daavetila is the highest ranked opponent Jokic has defeated in doubles since defeating No. 1 Mia Horvit and Ingrid Martins of South Carolina in the SEC Tournament Championship match in 2019. Jokic’s win over No. 3 Graham ties her highest ranked singles win since defeating No. 3 Fernanda Contreras of Vanderbilt in the quarterfinals of the ITA National Team indoors in 2019.

This is the first SEC Player of the Week award for the Bulldogs since Vivan Wolff won the award in 2019. The last Bulldog to win a weekly SEC award was Hertel who took home Freshman of the Week honors before the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Georgia returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 11 with a home match against No. 8 Florida State at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
