Senior Katarina Jokic was named SEC Player of the Week for the third consecutive week announced by the conference Wednesday afternoon.

The Novi Grad, Bosnia native becomes the first player since the conference weekly honors began in 2000, to earn the award for three consecutive weeks. The only other athlete to win back-to-back weekly awards previously was former Bulldog Lauren Herring who won SEC Player of the Week consecutive weeks during the 2015 season. The last time Georgia had three straight weekly awards recipients was the same 2015 season with Herring winning twice and Caroline Brinson winning the following week.

Jokic completed her third straight upset of a top-10 doubles opponent on Feb. 11 to earn the honors, taking down No. 5 Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores of Georgia Tech, 6-4. In singles, she defeated No. 13 Jones in straight sets 6-2, 6-3 for her third-straight ranked win as well.

Freshman of the Week honors was shared between Ole Miss’ Reka Zadori and Mississippi State’s Chloé Cirotte.

Bulldogs are set to begin conference play on Sunday, Feb. 21 against No. 19 Tennessee at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 1 p.m. with limited fan capacity set at 275 on a first-come, first-serve basis.
