[su_spacer size=”40″] Georgia freshman thrower Denzel Comenentia (Co-MENEN-shia) has been named the Southeastern Conference Men’s Track & Field Freshman of the Week, according to a league announcement.

[su_spacer size=”40″] Comenentia, a native of Amsterdam, Netherlands, made his career debut for the seventh-ranked Bulldogs at the McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky., over the weekend. He finished third in the shot put with a mark of 63 feet. This ranks ninth on the national list, makes Comenentia the top freshman nationally by two and a half feet and puts him at No. 6 on the Bulldogs’ all-time top-10 list.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Comenentia arrived in Athens earlier this month and enrolled in classes at Georgia at the start of the spring semester. The 6-foot-2 thrower also is expected to contribute for the Bulldogs in the shot put as well as the hammer throw and discus outdoors.
