[su_spacer size=”20″] Georgia track and field associate head coach Petros Kyprianou has been named the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2015 South Region Outdoor Women’s Assistant Coach of Year.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Kyprianou, a native of Limassol, Cyprus, is no stranger to USTFCCCA honors.  He was named the 2015 South Region Indoor Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year before earning the National Indoor Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year following the season.
[su_spacer size=”40″] In addition, Kyprianou, who was the 2008 West Region Indoor Men’s Assistant Coach of the Year while still at Boise State, swept the USTFCCCA Indoor and Outdoor South Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year honors in 2014.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Kyprianou, who coaches the multis, jumps and pole vault at Georgia, guided five team members to the NCAA Outdoor Championships, including collegiate triple jump leader and American Junior Record holder Keturah Orji, who is a true freshman.  Led by Southeastern Conference winner Orji, his crew scored 43 of Georgia’s 64 points at the SEC Championships.  Kyprianou also mentored Quintunya Chapman to the No. 9 spot on the all-time collegiate heptathlon list in just her second season competing in the event.
[su_spacer size=”40″] Other 2015 outdoor accomplishments for Kyprianou’s crew include Leontia Kallenou’s personal-best mark of 6 feet, 4 inches in the high jump and Kendell Williams’ 6,003 point total in the heptathlon to qualify for NCAAs.
[su_spacer size=”40″] The Bulldogs begin action at the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday, June 10.  The four-day meet will feature the men’s competitions on Wednesday and Friday and the women’s events on Thursday and Saturday.
