The University of Georgia’s Spec Towns Track will be temporarily closed during a portion of the summer so it can be resurfaced.

Georgia’s home track and field facility is scheduled to be closed on June 5, which coincides with the Bulldogs’ departure for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. The projected construction is scheduled to run from June 5 to July 31.

The Spec Towns Track will be resurfaced with the durable Mondo surface. Known for being one of the world’s fastest surfaces, Mondo tracks have been down for the last nine summer Olympic Games.

The University of Georgia and the UGAAA apologizes for the inconvenience. The improvements are expected to further enhance the facilities for the student-athletes as well as the public and visiting teams.
