The UGA volleyball team (5-1) split its matches on Friday against Ohio University and High Point University on the first day of the Bobcat Invitational, as the Bulldogs swept the hosting Bobcats before falling 3-1 to the Panthers.

SEC Freshman of the Week T’ara Ceasar followed a first-match team-best 14 kills, three aces and seven digs with a double-double in the second contest, totaling 17 kills and 13 digs. Freshman Rachel Ritchie joined Ceasar with 12 kills of her own against Ohio, complimented by a double-double against High Point at 14 kills and 14 digs.

After taking the first set 25-16, Georgia trailed 16-18 in the second set against Ohio before Georgia returned from its final timeout with back-to-back kills from Ritchie and Meghan Donovan. A service ace from Ceasar capped the set, and the Bulldogs maintained the lead in the third at 25-21 with a Majesti Bass kill, who finished with 10 on the day.

With eight-straight points mid-way through the third set, which included three Ceasar kills, the Bulldogs sealed its fifth consecutive win on the season with a 25-14 third frame win. Kendall Glover anchored the back row with 22 digs, while Anna Kate Karstens held the defense at the net with four blocks.

In the night game, Georgia dropped the first set 25-22. However, the Bulldogs evened the match at one in the second. Tied at 13, a Ritchie kill, paired with three-straight Ceasar kills, fueled the Bulldogs to a 25-19 second-set victory. High Point returned in the final two sets to take the final frames to seal the win at 25-18 and 25-21, respectively.

Glover collected 43 digs on the day while Donavan dished out 91 total assists, with 51 against High Point.
