GAME NOTES

GEORGIA WRAPS UP BOBCAT INVITATIONAL

The Bulldogs closed out their second weekend of action going 2-1 at the Bobcat Invitational. Georgia swept host Ohio and Oklahoma while falling in a competitive four-set match with High Point. While the offense hit at a .279 clip, Georgia’s defense held its weekend opponents to a .179 hitting percentage.

DONOVAN, GLOVER EARN SEC WEEKLY HONORS

Recognition for Georgia volleyball continues to roll in, as Meghan Donovan earned SEC Setter of the Week and Kendall Glover was named SEC Freshman of the Week. These accolades mark three weekly league awards for Georgia in the first two weekends of play, as T’ara Ceasar was the SEC Freshman of the Week after the season opener.

In her second season at Georgia, Donovan finished the tournament with 123 assists while adding 18 digs and three blocks defensively. Guiding the offense to a .279 weekend percentage, Donovan’s 13.20 assists per set was boosted by her season-best 51 assists in a competitive match against High Point, which is the most by a SEC player in a four-set match this season.

Glover anchored the backrow defense with 53 digs over the three games, good for 5.30 per set. Glover hit double-digit digs in every match, including 21 in a win at Ohio and 22 against the Panthers. Her effort against the hosting Bobcats ranks first in the league for digs in a three-set match. Glover also became the first Georgia freshman since Erica Clark in September 2007 to hit the 20-dig plateau.

GLOVER, RITCHIE NAMED TO BOBCAT INVITATIONAL ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Glover and fellow classmate Rachel Ritchie earned All-Tournament honors after their performances at the Bobcat Invitational. Glover’s weekend saw her earn SEC Freshman of the Week with her 53 total digs while Ritchie finished with 43 kills and 25 digs. Ritchie recorded her first career double-double with 14 kills and 14 digs against High Point.

GEORGIA RANKED HIGH IN SEC STATS

Georgia continues to have strong play in the early parts of the season and the results are showing in the conference’s statistical rankings. As a team, the Bulldogs are first with a .296 hitting percentage, 14.3 kills per set, 13.5 assists per set and 1.7 aces per set. Georgia is also second with a .142 opponent hitting percentage. Three of those marks rank in the top 30 among all Division I teams, including the offensive hitting mark at 15th, while the opponent hitting percentage and aces are just outside at 31 and 40, respectively.

Individually, four different Bulldogs are ranked in four SEC statistical categories, including Donovan at second with 11.23 assists per set while Ceasar and Ritchie are in the top five of kills.
