Less than a week on the job, new Bulldogs Head Coach Kirby Smart has found his man at offensive coordinator. The University of Georgia has hired Jim Chaney to be the new OC of the football team.
Chaney comes over from Pitt and brings over 30 years of coaching experience to UGA’s staff.
He played football at nose tackle for Central Missouri State from 1980-1983, and he got his first start in coaching at Cal State Fullerton in 1985 as an assistant. He went to Wyoming in 1993 as a GA and was promoted to be the Cowboys’ Offensive Line and Recruiting Coordinator in 1995. After Wyoming, he was hired by Joe Tiller to be his Offensive and Recruiting Coordinator at Purdue in 1997 and served in that position through 2005
While at Purdue, Tiller’s and Chaney’s offenses were known as “basketball on grass.”
