The Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team will put its 10-game win streak on the line Monday night as the team hosts Tennessee Tech in its final non-conference contest of the season at 7 p.m. ET inside Stegeman Coliseum.
 
Georgia is off to an 11-1 start under first-year head coach Joni Taylor and has won 55-straight non-conference home games dating back to the 2008-09 season.

Opening Tip — Five Things To Know
– Georgia rides a 10-game win streak into Monday’s meeting with Tennessee Tech. UGA owns a 10-0 lead in the all-time series with Tennessee Tech — the alma mater of Hall of Famer and former Georgia coach Andy Landers.
 
– The Lady Bulldogs currently sit at No. 11 in the NCAA RPI and are receiving votes in both the AP and Coaches polls. Three of Georgia’s first 12 opponents have a top-25 RPI (No. 13 BYU, No. 16 Seton Hall and No. 22 Michigan State).
 
– Georgia currently ranks No. 1 in the SEC in scoring defense (49.9 ppg), field goal pct. defense (31.9%) and 3-point FG pct. defense (24.1%). The Lady Bulldogs have held seven of their first 12 opponents to their respective season lows in scoring and have held all 12 to below 40-percent shooting.
 
– UGA is also tops in the SEC in assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging 17.6 assists per game and just 12.5 turnovers per contest. Senior point guard Marjorie Butler is second in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio with her 55 assists and 15 turnovers this season.
 
– Senior guard Shacobia Barbee has had a strong start to her final season in Athens. The Murfreesboro, Tenn., native recorded a triple double in the first game of the season and is just three assists and a rebound away from accomplishing the feat two more times this season. She had 11 pts., 11 rebs., 8 assists vs. Kennesaw State and 15 pts., 9 rebs., 9 assists at Wright State.

» Tennessee Tech, who enters Monday’s game with a 4-8 record, snapped a three-game losing skid with a victory in its last outing of the season against Wichita State. Samaria Howard leads the Golden Eagles with her 18.6 ppg. Tennessee Tech is ranked fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in rebounding margin and is fourth in rebounding defense with 38.3 per game.
 
Last Time Out
Behind a stout defensive effort and balanced team scoring, the Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team downed Cincinnati by a 60-42 final score last Wednesday at Stegeman Coliseum.

The Lady Bulldogs did not allow a 3-pointer for the Bearcats until there were less than four minutes left in the game, and they limited Cincinnati to just 24.1-percent shooting from the floor while forcing 13 turnovers. Georgia did not allow any Bearcats to reach double-digit points in the game.
 
Shacobia Barbee and Mackenzie Engram led the way offensively for the home squad with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Tiaria Griffin also had a strong game with eight points and eight rebounds, tying her season high. A total of 10 Georgia players scored in the contest, and six Lady Bulldogs had five or more points.

55-Straight Is Nation’s Best
» The Lady Bulldogs’ 55-game home non-conference win streak ranks as the top mark in NCAA DI women’s basketball. Georgia’s last loss at home vs. a non-conference team came in 2008 — a 56-44 loss to Xavier on Dec. 30, 2008. Monday’s game is Georgia’s final non-conference home game of the 2015-16 season. A win on Monday would mark the eighth-straight season that Georgia has finished non-conference play with an undefeated home record.
 
Lady Dogs Sharing And Scoring
» The Lady Bulldogs have proved to be one of the most unselfish teams in college basketball this season. Georgia ranks first in the SEC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4) — an average that ranks ninth nationally. The Lady Bulldogs are averaging just 12.5 turnovers per game and have committed fewer turnovers than their opponents in nine of 12 games.
 
» Georgia has three players averaging double figures for the year (Tiaria Griffin, (14.6 ppg), Merritt Hempe (13.0 ppg) and Shacobia Barbee (13.2 ppg)) and two players averaging nearly a double-double with Hempe’s 13.0 ppg and 7.7 rpg and Barbee’s 13.2 ppg and 8.9 rpg.

» Lady Bulldog senior guard Shacobia Barbee is the current active career steals leader (6th nationally) in the Southeastern Conference with 244 through three and a half seasons, including 33 so far during the 2015-16 campaign — a total that is third in the SEC. She is averaging 2.8 steals per game (No. 2 in SEC) and has recorded two or more steals in every game this season.
 
Griffin Making Her Mark From The Arc
» Senior Tiaria Griffin, who currently ranks sixth in Georgia history with 177 career 3-point baskets, is third in the SEC in made 3-point field goals this season with 31.
 
Win No. 900 For Georgia Basketball
» Not only was the win against Stetson the first of the Joni Taylor era, it was also the 900th victory in program history. Georgia is one of 13 programs in NCAA Division I women’s basketball to reach 900 wins or more. The Lady Bulldogs enter play this week with a 909-385 mark in 43 years as a program.
 
Barbee Goes For Triple-Double In Return
» On Jan. 25, 2015, Georgia’s Shacobia Barbee went down with a fractured fibula, forcing the preseason All-SEC performer to miss the last 10 games of the season. Barbee stormed back for the Lady Bulldogs in the first game of the year vs. Stetson, recording a triple-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists against the Hatters — becoming just the third Lady Bulldog player all-time to reach a triple-double and the first in 20 years (Teresa Edwards, 1986; Tracy Henderson, 1995). The 10 assists by Barbee represented a career high and also marked the first time since 2010 a Lady Bulldog had 10 or more helpers in a single game.
 
Hempe Making A Difference
– Senior forward Merrit Hempe, who has recorded three double-doubles through nine games this season, is not only making her mark on the court but she is also playing a pivotal role in the community. Hempe has been nominated for the 2016 AllState WBCA Good Works Team for her efforts off the court.
 
– The Fredericksburg, Va., native participates in numerous community service efforts, including Special Olympics Homeruns for Hometown Rivals baseball game, Toys for Tots, writing Holiday cards for deployed soldiers, helping provide safe routes to school by partnering with Barrow Elementary, providing toiletries collection for the homeless, visiting Stroud Elementary throughout the year to encourage and mentor children, is an Alzheimer’s Walk Volunteer, and Ath-Half Volunteer, and volunteers as a AAU coach and operations staff member during May. The 2015-16 Good Works Team will be released in February.
 
Books And Basketball For Butler
– Georgia senior point guard Marjorie Butler is busy preparing for medical school as she completes her senior season. She entered college with over 50 hours of college credits, and is currently going through medical school interviews. The Knoxville, Tenn., native already has a degree in exercise science and will graduate with a second degree in biology.
