Georgia has added to their 2021 football class. Long snapper Jonathan Washburn made it known today that he has committed to the ‘G’. Is a 6’3″ 220 pound prospect from Ringgold, Georgia. Washburn is the long snapper for the Heritage High School Generals and his midseason film shows him putting snaps right on the money. Also, Washburn’s 40 yard dash time is listed at 4.85, so the snapper should be able to help do an adequate job of covering punts after the snap during his tenure in Athens.
It’s unclear as to the impact this commitment has on the scholarship count, if any, for the 2021 class. Nevertheless, Kirby Smart is excited about it. The Georgia Head Coach sent out his customary “Go Dawgs!” moments after Jonathan Washburn broke the news on his Twitter account. Georgia places great importance on execution on special teams and picking up quality specialists like Washburn can’t be overlooked in terms of overall team success. Also, a little added momentum on the day before UGA hears the commitment announcement of 5-Star left tackle Amarius Mims.
