Head softball coach Lu Harris-Champer and the University of Georgia softball program have announced the 2021 schedule in its entirety as well as the fan attendance policy for the upcoming season at Jack Turner Stadium.
Due to COVID-19 and social distancing guidelines, guests will be permitted through a “Player Pass List” only. Admission will not be open to the general public.
Last week, the Southeastern Conference announced the conference slate of games for the league. Georgia will host Missouri (March 19-21), Florida (April 3-5), Arkansas (April 16-18), and Alabama (April 30-May 2) in conference play at Jack Turner Stadium this season.
The season kicks off in Athens when the Bulldogs welcome South Alabama and Virginia as part of the 14th Annual Red & Black Showcase the weekend of Feb. 12-14. The next weekend, Feb. 19-21, Georgia hosts Kent State, Longwood, and Florida A&M in the 18th Annual Georgia Classic.
2021 Georgia Softball Schedule
Kennesaw State comes to Athens Friday, Feb. 26 for one game before Georgia travels down the road for three games in Atlanta. That Saturday, Georgia will play Georgia State and Miami (Ohio) at Georgia State. On Sunday, Georgia will tussle with Georgia Tech in the annual showdown between the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets.
Tournament play will rev back up in Athens the weekend of March 5-6 when Charleston Southern, UAB, and Mercer come to town for the 12th Annual Bulldog Classic. The final tournament of the season will be the UGA Classic March 12-14 when East Carolina and North Dakota come to Jack Turner Stadium.
For the first time in program history, the University of Oklahoma will come to Athens for a midweek doubleheader on April 20. The Bulldogs and Sooners have met five times since 2008 (most recently 2015), all in Cathedral City, California as part of what is now the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Other non-conference midweek games feature Alabama State (doubleheader, March 3), Georgia State (March 10), at Kennesaw State (March 17), Georgia Southern (March 24), Furman (March 31), and USC Upstate (April 14).
Road SEC series include trips to Ole Miss (March 26-28), Kentucky (April 10-12), Tennessee (Aprils 23-25), and Mississippi State (May 7-9).
The University of Alabama is set to host the 2021 SEC Softball Tournament at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa May 12-15.
The 2021 campaign will be the 25th season of Georgia softball in Athens and the 21st under Harris-Champer. Georgia concluded the shortened 2020 season 23-5.
