With the hurdle of Georgia winning its first national title since 1980 cleared in 2021, a new crop of Dawgs will be strapping it up for Fall camp in just over a month. These new Bulldogs will find a locker room loaded with opportunities in the wake of a wave of departures to the NFL after last year’s historic run to the championship. They will also encounter a cadre of experienced players who understand what it takes to become a national champion and are ready to lead the new arrivals.

DAYLEN EVERETTE
DEFENSIVE BACK
Everett enrolled early, participated in spring drills, and was the Black team’s leading tackler on G-Day. The 6-foot-1inch defensive back has the length Coach Smart looks for in a corner to go along with his speed (verified 4.4 40-time) and agility. Everette will vie for playing time this fall.

MARVIN JONES JR
DEFENSIVE LINE
The son of former FSU and NFL star Marvin Jones, Marvin, Jr. has all the tools necessary to develop into a premier edge rusher. Having begun his high school career as a tight end, Jones will need time to establish SEC-level skills on the defensive line – but don’t be surprised if his athleticism and hard work earn playing time as the season rolls on and he gains experience.

JAHEIM SINGLETARY
DEFENSIVE BACK
Kirby Smart likes corners with height, and Singletary, like Daylen Everette, has it. The 6-foot-2-inch Singletary was not an early enrollee, thus has a steep learning curve ahead this summer and during Fall Camp to get in a position to command playing time early, but don’t discount the former five-star’s ability.

MALAKI STARKS
ATHLETE
Starks is listed on Georgia’s 2022 roster as an athlete, the first time I’ve noticed a UGA player so listed on the roster. While one can’t be sure if the listing indicates that Starks will routinely get snaps on both sides of the ball, he seems likely to end up as a safety or linebacker. Starks is a big-time talent who will see the field as a freshman – on offense, defense, or both.

MYKEL WILLIAMS
DEFENSIVE LINE
Williams, a five-star defender with the potential to play several positions along the D-front, was ranked No. 4 nationally regardless of position in the 247Sports Composite. Williams has the strength to move inside but may develop into a massive presence on the edge. Originally committed to Southern Cal, the number one ranked recruit in Georgia has all the tools to start getting playing time early in 2022.

BRANSON ROBINSON
RUNNING BACK
This kid is a running back in the Georgia tradition and is sure to be a crowd favorite. Robinson’s ripped body screams for the kind of inside zone running play that made Zamir White so popular with Dawg fans. Like Zeus, he has the speed and agility to hit a seam and break away for chunk yardage on any play.

OSCAR DELP
TIGHT END
Delp was the top-ranked tight-end prospect in the country as a high school senior. An early 2022 enrollee, he participated in spring practice and had a big G-Day. He led all receivers with seven receptions for 91 yards during his first game action for the Bulldogs. Coach Todd Hartley’s most significant problem in 2022 may be finding enough snaps to go around in his uber-talented tight end room.

BEAR ALEXANDER
DEFENSIVE LINE
Keithian Deshun Alexander’s name on Georgia’s 2022 roster is “Bear,” and he is sure to live up to his nickname. He enrolls with SEC-ready size (6-3, 315-pound) but will have a learning curve before establishing himself in the center of Georgia’s defensive front. The 247Sports Composite lists him as the 50th-ranked recruit nationally at any position. Bear will not be hibernating in Athens.
