Series Standouts: One question mark for the Bulldogs heading in to the 2015 season was their offensive potential. Last year, Georgia hit just .256 with 13 home runs. In the opening weekend, Georgia batted .397 and smashed six home runs. Five of the home runs came on Opening Day, and that was the most in a game since 2009 when it had seven in a 24-8 NCAA Regional victory over Ohio State in Tallahassee, Fla. Additionally, the Bulldogs collected five triples in the series after finishing last season with only seven. The Bulldogs played error-free ball in the EIU series while the bullpen pitched 9.1 scoreless innings before allowing a run in the ninth on Sunday. Sophomore infielder Mike Bell looked comfortable in the No. 3 spot in the order, batting .364 with one double, one triple, two home runs and seven RBI. Last year, Bell hit .250-1-8 in 104 at bats. Sophomore center fielder Stephen Wrenn enjoyed a solid weekend, batting .462 (6-for-13) with a double, two triples and two RBI. Junior shortstop Nick King became the first Bulldog from California to play in a game in available records dating back to 1950. A native of Palm Springs, Calif., King transferred in from Riverside City College, and hit .400 (4-for-10) with two stolen bases and perfect fielding in eight total chances in the EIU series. Freshman left fielder Keegan McGovern (.375-1-5) smashed a home run in his second career at bat while freshman third baseman Mitchell Webb (.400-1-2) crushed a home run in his third career at bat.

Pitching Review: Junior RHP David Sosebee had the most impressive start among the rotation as he tossed six scoreless innings Sunday with no walks and five strikeouts. Sophomore RHP Robert Tyler started Opening Day and picked up a win (5 IP, 5H, 3R, 2ER, 2BB, 7K) while junior LHP Ryan Lawlor got a win Saturday (6 IP, 4H, 2R, 2BB, 2K). Freshman LHP Bo Tucker looked sharp in his debut, recording two scoreless, hitless innings and four strikeouts. The Bulldogs compiled a 1.67 ERA in the series with 27 strikeouts and only six walks.
