[su_spacer size=”20″] University of Georgia senior shortstop Nick King underwent successful ankle surgery Tuesday at Athens Regional Medical Center.

 

Dr. Stephen Johnson performed surgery for a fractured right fibula that occurred during Georgia’s scrimmage at Foley Field on Oct. 24.

 

“When you play the game as hard as Nick, sometimes injuries are going to happen,” Georgia coach Scott Stricklin said. “The positive thing is that Nick has plenty of time to heal and be ready for our season opener. He will bounce back from this and continue to be a great leader in our program.”

 

“We’re pleased with the how the surgery went today,” said UGA Associate Athletic Trainer for Baseball Sean Boland. “Nick will start his rehabilitation program Wednesday, and we’re looking forward to getting him ready for the 2016 season.”

King, a native of Palm Springs, Calif.,  started all 54 games at shortstop for the Bulldogs in 2015. He batted .242-1-15 with 16 stolen bases and fielded .966.

 

The Bulldogs have completed fall practice and will return to full team workouts in January. The 2016 season opens Feb. 19.
