Jones, the former number one overall pick of the 1990 draft, spent his entire 19-year Major League career with the Braves. An eight-time All-Star and 1999 National League Most Valuable Player, he was a key part of the 1995 World Series champions. Jones earned a National League batting title in 2008 and drove in 100-or-more runs nine times and scored at least 100 runs eight times.
The Braves retired Jones’ number 10 and inducted him into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2013. In December of 2015, he rejoined the Braves as a special assistant in baseball operations. He will be eligible for the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
Scott Stricklin is in his third season leading the Bulldogs, and the 2016 college baseball season opens Feb. 19.
