Former UGA tight end Ben Watson joined in supporting the UGAAA fundraising drive to help build a handicapped-accessible home for Devon Gales and his family by donating $10,000 on Monday.
 
 
During halftime of the men’s college basketball game between Georgia and LSU on Saturday night in Athens, the UGA football program was presented with the 2015-16 NCAA Sportsmanship Award an award for its first-response care and subsequent support for injured Southern University football player Devon Gales and his family. It was also announced that the UGA Athletic Association had initiated a fundraising drive to help raise $500,000 to build a handicapped-accessible home for Devon Gales and his family.
 
 

 
 
Former Bulldog and veteran NFL tight end Ben Watson answered the call and donated $10,000 to go towards the fund.
 
 

 
 
And before you go and think that Ben Watson is tooting his own horn for making a big donation, it has more to do with generating buzz and interest in the fund for Devon Gales in order to help get the ball rolling and encourage others to donate. Another former Georgia tight end, Randy McMichael, has also answered the call.

The slogan signifies both $5 donation and $500,000 goal; the 3s rather than Es signify Devon Gales’ playing number 33 at Southern University.
