Georgia women’s basketball head coach Joni Taylor sat down and wrote a special message to Bulldog Nation about the Lady Bulldogs’ past season, the future of the program, and the birth of her and her husband’s baby girl, Jacie Elise.
“Bulldog Nation,”
“I have always known that being a part of the Georgia Community is all about family, and that was definitely no more evident than during this past year of Lady Bulldog basketball!”
“So, as we wind down and put the finishing touches on the hustle and bustle of yet another busy season — and yes we are still one of only three programs in the nation to boast a winning record every year (what a tremendous accomplishment by so many who’ve come before us!)– I want to pause and take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support. It’s impossible to put into words the feeling you get when you see (and hear!) a sea of red and black both at home and on the road. Simply put, we have the best fans in the nation, and I can’t thank you enough for all you do!”
“This past season will always hold special significance for our family. On November 3, Darius and I became the proud parents of our sweet baby girl, Jacie Elise. For us, that day was beautiful, surreal and humbling all in one. So many of you took time during the weeks that followed to offer meals, gifts, encouragement, visits, calls and texts. It was the perfect example of what being a part of a community is all about, and we will be forever grateful to each and every one of you.”
“We all know there is a perfect timing to everything that happens in life. I’m not sure that having a child eight days before the start of the season was perfect by any stretch, but it did allow our family to see just how special this place is. From our administration — President Jere W. Morehead, J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Greg McGarity and Deputy Director of Athletics Dr. Carla Williams — to our fans and former players, I just want to say thank you for your patience and graciousness during this past season.”
“The future of Lady Bulldog basketball is bright. Our three seniors, Pachis Roberts, Shanea Armbrister and Halle Washington, did a tremendous job of putting this young team on their backs, helping us win six of our final 10 games to lay the foundation for years to come. With a top-10 signing class, along with a strong group of returners on their way back, we feel great about the direction our program is headed.”
“Our commitment as a staff and as a team is to work diligently — in the classroom, on the court and in the community– to make you proud every single day.”
“In the meantime, please do not hesitate to give us a shout or a quick hello if you see us around town. And, don’t forget to purchase those season tickets and fill up Stegeman Coliseum next year!”
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
“Go Dawgs!”
