The Georgia Bulldogs continued to reach out to signal callers in the 2018 class by offering Waco, Texas dual-threat quarterback Tanner Mordecai on Saturday. Tanner is the eighteenth quarterback offered by the Bullogs for the 2018 recruiting class.

 

 
 
On Friday, we looked at the 2018 quarterback recruiting for the Bulldogs, and it was clear the Georgia coaching staff are looking to add a dual-threat guy, having made 10 offers compared to just 6 for the pro-style QBs. Head Coach Kirby Smart and company continued that trend with the offer to Tanner Mordecai on Saturday. In fact, the offer to Tanner is the second dual-threat QB offer in 24 hours by Georgia as the Bulldogs also offered Fitzgerald High School’s James Graham on Friday night.
 
 

 
 
So the score now is 12 dual-threat QB offers to 6 pro-style QB offers for 2018, and I would not be surprised for a few more offers to go out before it is all said done. Here is a look at Georgia’s latest two QB offers.
 
 
Tanner Mordecai is a 6 foot 2.5 and 213 lbs prospect out of Midway High School, Waco, TX. He is rated as a three-star dual-threat quarterback by 247, Rivals and Scout while ESPN has him rated as a four-star prospect. 247’s composite rating has him as the 14th beest dual-threat quarterback in the country and ESPN has Mordecai as a top ESPN 300 player. MaxPreps has Mordecai playing in eight games his junior year at Midway, passing for 1,725 yards on 120 of 198 pass attempts for 13 TDs to 5 INTs, and he also rushed for over 518 yards on 95 carries for another 8 TDs. James Graham is a 6 foot 1 and 195 lbs prospect out of Fitzgerald High School from Fitzgerald, GA. He is rated as a three-star dual-threat quarterback by 247 and Rivals, and Scout has him rated as a 3-star athlete prospect. His 2016 season stats per MaxPreps has the junior completing 48 of 91 passes for 947 yards and 15 TDs to just 3 INTs. In three years at Fitzgerald, Graham has also hurt opponents with his legs, rushing for 1,406 yards on 178 carries for 19 TDs. However, will Graham play at quarterback at the collegiate level or is his best position at defensive back or wide receiver?
 
 
Graham reminds me very much of Georgia sophomore Mecole Hardman, Jr. who came to the Bulldogs as part of the 2016 recruiting class from Elbert County High School where Hardman played mainly at QB. Elbert County coaches put the ball in their best athlete’s hands as much as possible on offense. Of course, his skill set translates better to defensive back and wide receiver in college, and he played mainly at defensive back for the Dogs and on special teams as a freshman last year. This spring we have seen Hardman work mainly at wide receiver.

The offer to Tanner Mordecai is one to keep an eye on as Georgia has missed so far on Justin Fields, Emory Joness, Trevor Lawrence, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, and James Foster, but there is still a long nine months to go till National Signing Day 2018.
