Bulldawg Illustrated intern Savannah Richardson, a senior in the Grady College of Journalism at UGA, takes a look at Saturday’s Georgia vs. Kentucky game. Here are her ‘Dawg Bones.’

 

OFFENSE DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Georgia receives the Dawg Bone on offense because it capitalizes on its mistakes and fixes them. The Bulldogs face the No. 4 rush defense in the SEC this week, so the team must utilize the passing game. Jake Fromm must make quick decisions and spread the field out to allow the run game to get going. If Georgia can thin out the Wildcats defense, this will set up Nick Chubb to continue his all-time SEC career rush yards ranking.

However, Kentucky ranks last in pass defense in the SEC, so Georgia must execute on this. The Bulldogs have Terry Godwin, Javon Wims, etc. to throw to, so why not utilize them. It’s time to pull the tight ends off the blocks and send them down the field. Isaac Nauta has a great set of hands for Fromm to throw to, and he’s big enough to make people miss. Georgia wins this game if it throws more than 15 times and for at least 150 yards. It’s time to see how Fromm can manage a game by throwing the ball.
 

DEFENSE DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
The Bulldogs’ defense receives the Dawg Bone because of their ability to stop SEC East teams. Kentucky is the final regular season SEC game for Georgia, and I expect this defense to make a statement. In every SEC East game this season except for Florida, the Bulldogs defense held offenses under 100 rush yards, and I expect this trend to continue. Benny Snell Jr. averages 101.30 yards a game, but these players are out for vengeance. Georgia holds Kentucky to under 100 rush yards and forces them to pass. The “Junkyard Dawgs” are back after a short absence, and I expect the havoc to happen on Saturday.
 

SPECIAL TEAMS DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Georgia keeps the special teams Dawg Bone as both Rodrigo Blankenship and Cameron Nizialek dominate with their legs. Blankenship continues to narrow in on Kevin Butler’s record as he is four touchbacks away from tying it. Nizialek continues to flip the field for the Bulldogs and will be crucial if Georgia cannot get the offense moving on Saturday.
 

COACHING DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Kirby Smart wins the Dawg Bone because he led Georgia to control its destiny, something that hasn’t happened in a long time. He said after the Auburn loss, “This team will be defined by how they respond, not by what they did.” These words will be the motivation for Saturday’s game against the Wildcats, and the rest of the season. Smart knows how to get a team out of a funk, and I believe he will do just that this week. It’s back to making teams quit and showing no mercy, and Smart will have his team ready. The process is still in motion, and this team will be right back on track for Kentucky.
 

OVERALL DAWG BONE: GEORGIA

 
Despite a disappointing loss to Auburn, Georgia doesn’t let the game define its season. The Bulldogs return home for their final home game of the season, and I don’t see them losing to Kentucky. Georgia’s crowd will be in it and stay loud. The Bulldogs improve to 10-1 on the season after they show no mercy for Kentucky.
