“There were a number of professors that I admired and I don’t think that I can pick one over the other. I admired them because they sincerely cared about me as a person and challenged me to accomplish more than I thought I could accomplish.”

 
 
What do you consider your greatest achievement?
 

“Being married to the love of my life, my wife Lillian, for 27 years is my personal greatest achievement and becoming a United States District Judge is my greatest professional achievement.”

“Former NFL Head Football Coach, Tony Dungy. He has always conducted himself professionally, win or lose — and tries to be courteous to everyone.”

 
 
Who are your heroes in real life?
 

“My heroes in real life are members of my immediate and extended family. They have made sacrifces in their lives, so that I could accomplish things in my life. They have also always been supportive.”

“An undefeated UGA football season that ends with a National Championship.”

“Patience. In an imperfect world, I think that you should not expect people (or life) to be exactly right all of the time. Life is not a sprint, but a marathon.”

“Honesty, humor, and dependability.”

 
 
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
 

“Learn how to relax and not feel that I have to accomplish something every day.”

“1. Melissa Faye Greene: I really like three books that she wrote, Praying for Sheet Rock, The Temple Bombing, and The Last Man Out.”

“2. Robert Caro: I like his biographies on American political fgures.”

“3. Loran Smith—because he has written some great books about UGA football teams and players.”
