The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has named UGA freshman outside hitter T’ara Ceasar a member of the 2017 All-Southeast Region Team, and sophomore setter Meghan Donovan earned an honorable mention on the region team.

“We are incredibly proud of T’ara and Meghan and these well-deserved honors,” said head coach Tom Black. “T’ara carried a huge load in both serve receive as well as her offense, and she was a force behind he service line. Meghan clearly established herself as one of the top setters in the SEC by any metric. Most of all – they are hungry to get better and see how good they can be, just like all of their teammates are as well. A huge congrats to T’ara and Meghan!”

Ceasar adds AVCA All-Region honors to a resume that includes All-SEC, SEC All-Freshman, and seven SEC Freshman of the Week honors. She becomes the first Georgia player to earn AVCA All-Region honors since Alexandra Oquendo in 2005.

The freshman from Panama City, Florida led the team with 4.14 kills, 0.40 aces, and 4.79 points per set. Those numbers respectively rank third, fourth, and third in the conference. Her kills and points per set averages were the highest among freshman in the nation. She led the team with 26 double-digit kill matches while leading the team in kills in 21 contests.

Donovan, from St. Louis, dished out 10.95 assists per set and ran a Bulldog offense that hit .243, the fourth-best team hitting percentage in the SEC. At the conclusion of her sophomore season, Donovan already ranks eighth in careers assists at Georgia with 2,374.
