The Kirby Smart red and black recruiting train has been quietly steaming along full speed ahead the last several weeks as the UGA football team finished up their regular season, won the 2017 SEC Championship game and now, prepare to take on Oklahoma in the 2017 College Football Playoff Semifinal game in the Rose Bowl. It looks like the next passenger to board the mean machine is 2018 offensive lineman Trey Hill with his announcement on Monday shortly after 8:00 p.m. ET that he has verbally committed to the University of Georgia.
The talented big man has over 33 scholarship offers, and he committed to UGA over Auburn, Florida, and FSU.
Hill joins Offensive Line Coach Sam Pittman’s ‘Trench Maulers’ and certainly fits the bill. The senior out of Houston County High School from Warner Robins, GA is 6 foot 3.25, and 346 lbs. He is ranked as the No. 3 offensive guard and four-star prospect for the 2018 class by 247Sports. Hill is also ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN, who has him as the No. 1 OG, and Rivals, who has him as the No. 2 OG.
The U.S. Army All-American is considered one of the top-50 propsects overall in the country. 247 has him as the No. 38 overall player in their composite ranking system while ESPN has him as the 27th. Rivals has him as a top-100 at No. 78. Hill joins Owen Condon and Warren Ericson to make the Bulldogs third O-line commitment for 2018 and gives Georgia 19 verbal commitments so far. Hill is planning to sign during the early signing period from Dec. 20-22 and will be enrolling early.
