Today on Bulldawg Illustrated’s UGA Recruiting Daily we look at Georgia’s 2018 defensive line recruiting focusing on defensive tackle prospects and also look at some of the 2019 prospects in the next class.
So how do the Dawgs look for 2018 so far?
Georgia has one defensive tackle signee for 2018, Hutchinson Community College’s DeVonte Wyatt, and he has already enrolled at UGA and is on campus. Wyatt was originally a 2017 signee out of Towers High School, Decatur, GA but was not able to qualify academically. He is good to go now after one semester at Hutchinson and will look to be in the mix of the competition this spring.
In addition to Wyatt, the Bulldogs also currently have two verbal defensive tackle commits in Mallard Creek High School’s Jordan Davis out of Charlotte, NC, and Liberty County High School’s Tramel Walthour out of Hinesville, GA. Both players decided not to sign during the early signing period in December and will be doing so on Feb. 7th. There is always a chance that either Davis or Walthour could flip their commitment to another school, but as of right now, they are looking to still sign with UGA.
There are several undeclared prospects at DT that could potentially land in Athens between four prospects which include Provo, Utah’s Jackson Cravens, Independence C.C. Emmit Gooden, Concord High School’s Rick Sandidge, and Parkway North High School’s Michael Thompson out of St. Louis, Missouri. Out of those four, the Dawgs have the best shot at landing Rick Sandidge. The other three I would consider long shots at this point, but we will take a look at them below.
With 20 signees there are likely five spots remaining, maybe one or two more, in the 2018 recruiting class for UGA. Right now, it looks like Georgia will sign Davis and Walthour and could add Sandidge which along with Wyatt, would give UGA four DTs in the 2018 class. So let’s take a look at those undeclared 2018 targets at DT and a few of the 2019 prospects.

His tape looks good, and as a junior, Cravens had 160 tackles, 20 for a loss, and 13 QB sacks. Those are impressive stats, even if the competition isn’t as stout as some of the other high school classifications and regions around the country in states like California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas.
Cravens has taken official visits to Michigan State on Sept. 22nd, Oregon Jan. 19th, and is just coming off an official to Utah on Jan. 26th. Right now, it looks like he will stay home and go with Utah.

NEWS & NOTES: Travon Walker is a talented junior Peach State D-lineman for Upson-Lee. He holds a scholarship offer from Georgia and is considered a heavy lean to the Bulldogs at the moment. Walker has visited Athens and UGA several times. He attended the Kirby Smart Football this past summer on June 2nd and then visited again in August. Walker also visited Georgia on Sept. 23rd for the Mississippi State game.
Until Walker adds more bulk to his frame, he will likely start out as an SDE at the next level, but if he can add on 30 to 40 lbs, he’ll be a terror on the inside, in the middle of the d-line.
