The No. 19 Georgia Bulldogs baseball team made it a season sweep of the No.15 Clemson Tigers defeating them by a score of 6-1 and early scoring led the way.
 
 
The Bulldogs came up to bat in the bottom of the first already trailing by a run but they quickly erased that deficit with some impressive two-out scoring. The scoring started when Aaron Schunk smacked a triple over the head of the Tigers right fielder and brought in Keegan McGovern and Michael Curry. This was enough to give the Bulldogs a one-run lead over the Tigers.
 
 
Adam Sasser would push that lead to three in the very next at-bat as he hit a line drive home run over the left field wall, which was his fourth on the year. The Bulldogs would add one run each in the second and third inning and that would be enough to give the team the win.
 
 

 
 
Georgia’s pitching was equally outstanding despite a shaky start from Will Proctor. Proctor was starting his first game ever on the mound as a Bulldogs pitcher and he had an inauspicious start as he gave up a home run to the very first batter of the game. Head coach Scott Stricklin definitely had nerves after that opening batter.
 
 

“I mean you can’t start a game any worse than that, I mean I was shaking my head,” said Stricklin. “I told Will afterward he threw great, he gave us four great innings but I said ‘Do me a favor don’t give a 0-2 home run to the leadoff hitter of the game,’ and he laughed…but I thought he really competed.”

 
 
However, Proctor settled down immediately and shut the door on the Tigers with three strikeouts in his four innings of work as he only gave up the single run on three hits, one walk, and one hit batter. Proctor was not happy with how the night started but was overall pleased with how he finished off the night.
 
 

“It was the most fun I’ve ever had on a baseball field,” said Proctor. “I was able to just command all my pitches.”

 
 
Tony Locey followed Proctor and he was just as effective and quickly retired each Tiger batter he faced as he only allowed one to reach base. Locey looked the best he has all season long and his performance was very dominant.
 
 
Kevin Smith and Zac Kristofak pitched the final three frames of the game and kept the Tigers off the board in route to the team’s 26th win of the season. Win 26 surpasses their win total from last season and they still have 18 games left to play.
 
 
Star of the Night: Will Proctor
 
Will Proctor’s approach after giving a leadoff home run when he was ahead 0-2 in the count was really a huge difference maker in this game. Having an early mistake in his first career start could have wrecked his entire outing, but he settled in and did not give up a single run in the rest of his four innings on the mound. Proctor is yet another powerful arm that the Bulldogs have that could pay off huge in the SEC tournament and maybe in postseason play as well.

The Bulldogs will hope to keep their success at the plate on and the mound going as they will head on the road next to take on the No. 7 Ole Miss Rebels.
