Georgia stayed inside “the House of Payne” the third day in a row in preparations for Massachusetts. The intensity was still there, and the coaches had each position working hard. Here are my takeaways from Wednesday’s practice.
Offense Report
— No Kendall Baker or Cade Mays
— Demetris Robertson was back at practice running full force in drills. He didn’t seem limited at all.
— The quarterbacks and running backs worked through a dump pass drill that had the back go around the tackle and catching the pass as they’re coming across the middle. This drill seems like the team expects UMass to do a lot of blitzing so the RB is the quick option in case this happens and they should be open with the LB’s blitzing.
— Jim Chaney’s tight ends worked through blocking during the entire media period.
— The OL worked in tackle and guard positions and worked on combo blocks.
— Similar to the runningbacks the recievers worked on a route that curled over the middle. It seems like this is something the team expects to happen a lot.
Defense Report
— The Bills and the Chargers were there watching practice
— Kirby Smart and Mel Tucker had the receivers and the DB’s work through one-on-one good-on-good drill. This group was fired up and excited about hitting each other. They moved to one-on-two good-on-good next before breaking up into individual positions.
— Tray Scott had the defensive line work on striking and getting past the OL.
— I saw where Deandre Baker had a small brace on his right wrist.
— Still no David Marshall and Daquan Hawkins-Muckle.
— The linebackers worked through a similar one-on-one drill of their own as well.
