University of Georgia senior student-athlete Alyssa DiCarlo has been announced as a top-10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award, USA Softball announced Wednesday afternoon.

DiCarlo becomes only the second Georgia Bulldog to become a top-10 finalist for the award in the history of the program. The first was Alisa Goler in 2009.

“What a tremendous honor for Alyssa,” head coach Lu Harris-Champer said. “It’s hard to put into words how proud I am of her and the woman and player she’s become. To be named a top-10 finalist is really a testament to not only the season she’s had but the career she has had at Georgia.” 

DiCarlo, a native of Glendale, Arizona, concludes her career as a four-time All-SEC performer. This season, DiCarlo has etched her name deep in Georgia’s record books highlighted by breaking the program records for home runs, RBI, extra-base hits, and total bases. She will also finish top-10 in career categories including batting average, hits, runs, at bats, doubles, slugging and on-base percentage, sacrifice flies, walks, and assists. This season, she has knocked 21 home runs, sixth-most in the nation, while driving in 54 runs and batting a team-best .387 and slugging .913 with a .530 on-base clip. She co-leads the team with 15 multi-hit games and has recorded 14 multi-RBI performances. 
 
In April, DiCarlo was drafted as the fourth-overall pick by the Chicago Bandits of National Pro Fastpitch. 

DiCarlo is one of four from the Southeastern Conference to appear on the top-10 list including Abbey Cheek (Kentucky), Mia Davidson (Mississippi State), and Amanda Lorenz (Florida).

The Top-3 finalists for the award will be announced on May 22. The 2019 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed May 28.
