While many Dawg fans do not have fond memories of former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, the now SEC Nation co-host had some positive things to say about Georgia on Friday. I had the opportunity to ask Tebow to give an assessment of how the Bulldogs had done so far.

“I think Georgia is extremely talented. A little bit of a sigh of relief for them how well their receivers have played. Two of them have transferred in. Lawrence Cager is a big ‘ole body dude that could be a big “X-factor” for Georgia in their bigger games here in their future. I like Robertson. I like a lot of those guys,” said Tebow. “But then they got to be able to stretch that field to open it more for D’Andre Swift. I thought against Notre Dame they were playing not to lose rather than playing to win.”

Tebow went on to talk about Georgia’s new offensive coordinator, James Coley, who replaced Jim Chaney who left to take the same position at the University of Tennessee. Tebow also had high praise for junior quarterback Jake Fromm.

“For James Coley, it’s really his biggest time as the OC (offensive coordinator) and he hasn’t OC’d a lot of games. So I think he will continue to learn how he calls it. How he connects with Jake (Fromm) and how they can continue to open it up,” said Tebow. “Because when they did, Jake (Fromm) was fantastic and he went right down the field… Notre Dame staced the box… daring Georgia to go win it and they didn’t. They won it because their defense played fantastic.”

Tebow added that he would like Coley to allow Jake to put the team on his back because he feels Fromm can “handle those big moments.”

“Jake (Fromm) can handle that. Jake can handle those big moments,” said Tebow. “And I would like to see them let him put on back brace and try to go carry it.”

Georgia takes on Tennessee at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN in Knoxville and we will see whether or not Fromm is given the opportunity to “open things up.”
