Bulldawg Illustrated Staff Picks for Dawgs vs. Gamecocks

It’s week 7 of the 2019 college football season, and the Bulldawg Illustrated staff are mustering all their powers of prognostication to predict the outcome of today’s Georgia vs. South Carolina game.

Hamilton Culpepper: Georgia 41 – South Carolina 13

“Hot Rod lives up to his name and stays hot. Defense still does not allow that rushing touchdown and the air attack goes hard. Fromm passes for 250 and 3 touchdowns. Zeus goes for over 100 yards and the offense just sticks the Carolina defense. 41-13…Dawgs on top!”

Rebecca Gemes: Georgia 41 – South Carolina14

“South Carolina has shown up in games but not enough to take on Georgia in an impactful way. I’m thinking final of 41-14, of course with the Dawgs on top! Should be fun!”

Josh Hancher: Georgia 38 – South Carolina 10

“Using stats from just Power 5 opponents, SC drops to 4.1 YPA Rushing. Dawgs still tops in SEC rushing at 8.1 YPA.  UGA falls just behind Bama in Overall Success Rate but remains first in SEC Rush Success Rate. Coach Smart said that it was a point of pride to keep opposing teams from scoring a rushing TD.  UGA Defense will fight to keep USC Rushing attack at bay. If Coach Muschamp thinks he will be able to run it and stay in the game, it’s a romp. Dawgs 38 Cocks 10”

Caroline Kinney: Georgia 38 – South Carolina 17

“Carolina can’t stop the run and Georgia holds them on D. Dawgs win 38-17!”

Cheri Leavy: Georgia 38 – South Carolina 10

“I love what JD wrote in this issue of BI, ‘For the first time in history, Georgia has started three consecutive seasons with records of 5-0. The Bulldogs are aiming to start a third successive campaign with a 6-0 and stay right in the midst of the nation’s elite unbeatens.’ Dawgs win 38-10. Let’s do it dawgs – keep winning! Woof woof!”

Vance Leavy: Georgia 44 – South Carolina 20

“This one has worried me since before the season as it sits in the very middle of the schedule. And falls after an always physical game with the Vols. However, now I think the slow start at Rocky Top will motivate the team to come out blazing at High Noon in Sanford. Dawgs 44 Gamecocks 20.”

Lance McCurley: Georgia 45 – South Carolina 17

“I see Javon Kinlaw and USC’s D line giving Georgia trouble early. Georgia’s O-line adjusts and I think the perimeter blocking is key for the Dawgs. That opens up the passing game too. Georgia 45 – USC 17.”

Bob Miller: Georgia 34 – South Carolina 10

“The Bulldogs are coming into this game off a 43-14 win over Tennessee in Knoxville while the Gamecocks had a bye this last week after handing Kentucky a 24-7 loss. While South Carolina will come in and give Georgia its best shot and could keep the score tight through the first couple of quarters, it will not last. As the Bulldogs have done to other teams all season and will continue to do so, they will wear down the Gamecocks and win by at least three touchdowns going away. Dawgs pluck the Roosters 34-10.”

Matthew Pasek: Georgia 37 – South Carolina 13

“The keyword for this game is ‘PHYSICALITY!’  The Gamecocks play a physical brand of football but the Dawgs are bigger, stronger and faster. Georgia ratchets up the physicality and plays a complete game.  South Carolina gets there only TD of the game late in the 4th Quarter against the Junkyard Dawg reserves. Give me Georgia over the Gamecocks 37-13.”

Greg Poole: Georgia 45 – South Carolina 17

“Georgia will continue the pattern for success this season has revealed. Combine a suffocating rush defense that makes the opponent one dimensional with an offense that wears down the opposing defense, and youtube a fairly close game for about a quarter and a half. After intermission, the Dawgs will pull away to a 45- 17 win.”

Murray Poole: Georgia 31 – South Carolina 17

“The third-ranked Dawgs will climb to 6-0 but the Gamecocks will easily beat that 25-point spread on the game. As detailed in my prediction column this week, South Carolina is bringing the best running game to Athens that Georgia has faced this season. The Cocks’ ability to keep the chains moving — even against the Bulldogs’ terrific run defense — and work the clock will keep this one closer than most folks anticipate. Georgia 31, South Carolina 17.”
