Tae Crowder and Charlie Woerner Cap a Seven Player 2020 NFL Draft for the Bulldogs

Former Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner and linebacker Tae Crowder were selected in the latter rounds of day three of the 2020 NFL Draft. Woerner got the call from the San Francisco 49’ers in the sixth round and was selected 149th overall. Crowder was the very last player selected in this year’s Draft, 255th overall in the seventh round by the New York Giants.

Woerner signed with the Bulldogs as part of UGA’s 2016 recruiting class out of Rabun County High School in Tiger, GA. In four seasons with the Dawgs, Woerner played in over 54 games for Georgia at tight end, starting a 19 and 14 of those starts came his senior year this past season in 2019. He finished his collegiate student-athlete career with 34 receptions for 376 yards and 1 touchdown.

Crowder was part of former Georgia head coach Mark Richt’s final recruiting class in 2015, signing with the Bulldogs out of Harris County High School in Pine Mountain, GA.

 

 

 

 

He originally was recruited as a running back, and after redshirting in 2015, switched to defense to inside linebacker mid-season in 2016. Crowder made a name for himself on special teams and worked his way into the linebacker rotation. In all, Crowder played in 44 games for UGA, making 122 stops, including 10 tackles for a loss, 1.5 quarterback sacks, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception, and 7 passes defended.

Kirby Smart released videos via Twitter reminiscing on both Crowder’s and Woerner’s time at the University of Georgia after they were drafted on Saturday.

In all, seven Bulldogs heard their name called in the 2020 NFL Draft. On Thursday night, offensive tackles Andrew Thomas and Isaiah Wilson both went in the first round with Thomas being picked fourth overall by the New York Giants and Wilson 29th overall by the Tennessee Titans. Running back D’Andre Swift was next and the first and only Georgia player taken on Friday night in the second round with the third pick (35th overall) by the Detroit Lions.

 

 

 

 

On Saturday, offensive guard Solomon Kindley was the first Dawg off of the board, selected in the fourth round with the fifth pick of the day (111th overall) by the Miami Dolphins. Quarterback Jake Fromm was next on Saturday with the 22nd pick of the fifth round (167th overall) by the Buffalo Bills with Woerner and Crowder capping off the afternoon and the Draft for Georgia.
