There is a lot to be said about being able to go into Tuscaloosa, Alabama and sign one of the most talented defensive back prospects in the country out from underneath both Alabama and Auburn. Georgia has done just that by signing 4 Star cornerback Kamari Lassiter.
Lassiter was a two way standout for American Christian Academy in T-Town. He has tremendous dexterity and agility that he put on display at wide receiver throughout his career. Kamari is also an explosive return man and that could be a part of his future in Athens. However, where Lassiter really stands out is his ability to be physical at the line of scrimmage with receivers and to be able to run stride for stride with receivers and play the ball in the air. Lassiter told me he loves playing mind games with receivers, quietly talking smack and backing it up by shutting them down play after play.
Charlton Warren, Dan Lanning, and company sold Lassiter on returning to his original home state. The talented defensive back grew up around Savannah. Despite never getting to take his official visit like so many due to COVID, the pre-COVID visit Lassiter did take, combined with the efforts of Lanning, Smart, Warren, and even fellow Georgia signee Lovasea Carroll proved to be enough. Lassiter will be competing for playing time right away with Georgia likely losing Tyson Campbell, DJ Daniel, and possibly even Eric Stokes to the NFL.
