WGOLF: Jenny Bae, Caroline Craig and Celeste Dao Notch Top-10 Finishes in Summer Tourneys
A trio of Georgia Bulldogs produced strong results in summer tournaments last week, with Jenny Bae, Caroline Craig and Céleste Dao all notching top-10 finishes.
Bae finished third at the Georgia Women’s Amateur at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth, Ga. The defending champion, Bae posted rounds of 70-73-70 to finish at 2-under 213, two shots back of the individual winner.
Craig tied for 10th at the Donna Andrews Invitational at Boonsboro Country Club in Lynchburg, Va., after shooting a 4-over, 54-hole tally comprised of a 77, a 71 and a 72.
Dao tied for eighth a the Ororo PGA Women’s Championships of Canada, which was contested at Chateau Bromont Golf Club in Quebec. Dao entered the final round tied for 14th but climbed six spots on the leaderboard after firing a 5-under 68.
Several Bulldogs are expected to compete this week. Bae, LoraLie Cowart, Craig and Jo Hua Hung are all slated to play in qualifying tournaments for the U.S. Women’s Amateur. This year’s Am will be held Aug. 8-14 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. In addition, Isabella Holpfer and Candice Mahé will represent Austria and France, respectively, in the European Ladies Team Championships at Conwy Golf Club in Wales.
