The younger version of him may have seen him playing in the other team’s uniform, but oh how the tables have turned. Now, Georgia quarterback Carson Beck finds himself under the brightest of lights as he heads back to his hometown of Jacksonville, Florida, as a “Not-So Hometown Hero” to face off against a formidable SEC opponent and longtime rival in the Florida Gators. 

With the way Georgia’s been playing, everyone’s chomping at the bit to get this year’s iteration of the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party started. Dawg Nation is ready to lay a nice old-school whoopin’ on the Gators, and the guys in blue and orange are excited to have a prime opportunity to secure a victory against an injury-ridden and Brock Bower-less Georgia Bulldog team. It really could be anyone’s game. 

Beck in particular is ready to prove himself in this homecoming.

Wide receiver Dominic Lovett had this to say about Beck’s attitude in the practices leading up: 

“Carson is doing a great job leading the team with his confidence and swagger, so we’re just going to follow behind him and whatever he says, goes.”

And Beck’s going to need every ounce of that because the Gator’s boast the third best passing defense in the Southeastern Conference in yards allowed, holding their opponents to an average of 187 per game. 

Now if you’re a numbers guy, you’d like the Dawgs in this one because Bobo and his gang are averaging 337 yards through the air per game. We know Georgia is favored, but it all really depends if Beck decides to show up or not. 

When it comes to SEC play, we’ve seen Carson Beck show up for just the second half of games more than enough times at this point– South Carolina and Auburn for example. Georgia fans are going to want Kentucky Carson Beck to come out guns ablazin’.

Beck is going to be turning to the likes of the aforementioned Lovett, who is second on the team in reception, and Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the team’s second receiving yards leader. All of these guys are going to be needing that “swagger” to try and get the Gators in Jacksonville.
