Two Bulldogs advanced into the round of 32 singles main draw at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Wednesday.

WTEN: Dasha Vidmanova Earns Victories at the ITA All-American Championships

Dasha Vidmanova earned a singles win and teamed up with Aysegul Mert for a doubles victory on the opening day of the ITA All-American Championships main draw action at the Cary Tennis Park on Wednesday.

  • Making her season debut for the Bulldogs, #2 Dasha Vidmanova picked up right where she left off last season as she cruised past #83 Anne-Christine Lutkemeyer (UCLA), 6-2, 6-4 in the singles main draw round of 64.
  • Coming off two qualifying round victories to clinch a spot in the singles main draw, #75 Guillermina Grant produced a back-and-forth battle through three sets, but ultimately fell to Imogen Haddad (USC), 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-4.
  • In the doubles main draw bracket, the tandem of Vidmanova and Aysegul Mert opened their first match of the season with a dominant 6-2, 6-4 win over #54 Valencia Xu and Valerie Glozman (Stanford) in the round of 32.

All three Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday at the ITA All-American Championships, with Vidmanova advancing to the singles main draw round of 32 and the doubles main draw round of 16 alongside Mert, while Grant will compete in the singles main draw consolation round of 32 qualifiers.
