MTEN: UGA Concluded the ITA Men’s All-American Championships

Tulsa, Okla. – Georgia men’s tennis concluded action on the first day of the ITA Men’s All-American Championships on Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Results:

Prequalifying – Round of 128
Freddy Blaydes def. Jake Krug (Duke), 6-4, 6-3
Filipe Costa def. Bozo Barun (Arkansas), 6-4, 6-3
Nathan Cox (Vanderbilt) def. Niels Ratiu, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5

Key Moments:

Both Blaydes and Ratiu earned their first wins of the weekend after earning prequalifying bids to the event.
The victory for Blaydes marked his second straight set victory on the year and Costa’s first

Next Up:

With their wins, Blaydes and Costa advance to the round of 64 to face Julien Penzlin (Louisiana State) and Manfredi Graziani (Penn), respectively. Ratiu will begin action in the prequalifying consolation draw with his opponent selection to come later. No. 28 Ryan Colby, No. 64 Miguel Perez Peña and No. 84 Oscar Pinto Sansano will begin singles in the round of 64.

In doubles play, No. 44 Perez Peña/Pinto Sansano will begin qualification action in round of 32 before No. 2 Blaydes/Ratiu and No. 33 Thomas Paulsell/Colby start competition in the round of 16.
