Bobby Wilder (Head Coach) – Coach Wilder was hired in December of 2023 to become the next head coach of the Golden Eagles. This will be his first time back as a head coach since his 11-year run with Old Dominion ended in 2019, where he was 77-56 in that period. His most notable achievements include a 2012 run to the NCAA FCS Quarterfinals and a 2016 bowl win at the Bahamas Bowl when the Monarchs moved to the FBS. With plenty of successful coaching experience in the past, he will be given one of his more daunting tasks in trying to compete with the No. 1 team in the country.

Jordyn Potts (QB #5) – The sophomore quarterback leads his offense into easily the most difficult test of the season. In his freshman year, he played in eight games, throwing for over 1,000 yards and eight touchdowns. He was relied heavily on in last week’s season opening loss to Middle Tennessee, airing the ball out 38 times with three touchdown passes. With Georgia’s outstanding performance against the run game last week against Clemson, Potts will have to find holes in the Bulldog secondary to try and pull off the biggest upset of the season.

DJ Linkins (WR #10) – Linkins finished last season with 413 receiving yards and one touchdown in his final season at New Hampshire before transferring to Tennessee Tech this past offseason. In week 1, he was the leading receiver for the Golden Eagles with 61 yards. The junior will certainly use his experience to be a leader of the offense alongside Potts to keep nerves down while playing in front of 93,033 Dawg fans in Georgia’s home opener.

Jay Parker (WR #4) – Parker is entering his sixth season of college football, previously playing at Austin Peay from 2019-2021 and Western Illinois from 2022-2023. The best season of his long college career was last year in which he had nearly 500 receiving yards and was named to the fourth-team All-MVFC roster. For a player that has certainly seen it all, he can be a reliable weapon for his offense to rely on for big-time receptions in a game where points will be mandatory to keep up with the Bulldogs.

Daniel Rickert (DE #55) – Rickert had an amazing 2023 season, earning All-Big South-OVC First Team honors with 47 tackles, nine sacks, and two forced fumbles. The junior will be given the chance to be an impactful player off the line of scrimmage and be a pesky player for Beck’s offense. In a road game against a top team in college football, forcing defensive stops to keep the crowd noise to a minimum can help the Golden Eagles stay comfortable in a game where they will likely have their backs against the wall from the beginning.

Aaron Swafford (LB #19) – The Junior Tennessean is another solid defensive piece for Coach Wilder’s team. He earned a spot on the All-Big South-OVC Second Team last season after tallying 65 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions. In last week’s opener, he led his defense with eight tackles and their lone sack. If Swafford can put pressure on Beck and make meaningful open-field tackles, he could keep the Golden Eagles within striking distance.

Tennessee Tech has won 10 Ohio Valley Conference football championships, the most of any active member in league annals – last claiming the title under Watson Brown’s watch in 2011.

One of Tennessee Tech’s most distinguished graduates is legendary University of Georgia Hall of Fame Women’s Basketball Coach Andy Landers, who led the Lady Dogs to five Final Fours.

In 2018, the Golden Eagles baseball team enjoyed a tremendous season, beating Ole Miss in the Oxford Regional before falling to Texas in the Super with a final record of 53-12.
