Glenn Schumann (Co-DC) – Dawg fans have looked for reinforcing thoughts about their team’s defense since the devastating road loss in Tuscaloosa. Schumann primarily works with the linebacker group but serves as Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator. He helped lead the defense to slow down an Auburn Tiger offense that is efficient, yet has had some turnover issues this season. Veteran backer Smael Mondon Jr. was out against Auburn with an undisclosed injury, so it was time for Schumann to make a decision about who would be next man up. In one of the most successfully recruited positions at Georgia, the Co-DC had no problem finding who will step up. As Dawgs get healthier, the defense will only get better.

Anthony Evans III (WR #5) – So far, Anthony Evans III has been a serviceable special teams player. He has yet to turn the ball over. Plus, he even saw quite a high number of reps at receiver against Alabama on the road. Given fewer chances against Auburn, it seems like Evans III is just waiting to jump on the opportunity to receive more playing time with Mike Bobo’s offense.

Lawson Luckie (TE #7) – Is it correct to say Lawson Luckie has been Georgia’s best tight end at this point in the season? Luckie is one of three tight ends with at least one reception. He leads the room with seven catches for 135 yards and two touchdowns. One of those came last weekend when Carson Beck successfully completed a play-action pass that went for 33 yards. This 33-yard gain ended up being the Dawgs’ longest offensive play of the game. Going forward, expect Luckie to see the ball in his hands even more as he continues to gain Carson Beck’s trust.

Branson Robinson (RB #22) – Redshirt sophomore Branson Robinson has had a healthy season so far, which is great to see. The running back room seems to be a bright spot in Georgia’s offense. As the offensive line continues to improve, the Bulldogs will hopefully control the run game in many of their anticipated matchups. Robinson, splitting carries primarily with Trevor Etienne and Nate Frazier Jr., is the bruiser of the group. He takes more of a downfield approach, and it’s only a matter of time until he makes a highlight of himself running through an unsuspecting defender.

Julian Humphrey (CB #12) – There was only one stat on the sheet for cornerback Julian Humphrey against the Tigers, but it was an excellent display of tackling against QB Payton Thorne in the open field. Although they would go on to convert on third down, Kirby Smart’s message of “What would Kamari do” seems to have made an impact on Humphrey. He had struggled here-and-there with tackling in the past few games, but with it still being this early in the season, any form of individual improvement does not go unnoticed.

Mykel Williams (DE #13) – Williams played in his second straight game since injuring his ankle against Clemson in the season opener. On what looked like limited reps, the projected first rounder recorded one tackle for a loss against Auburn. His initially reported Grade 2 ankle injury has an average recovery time of 3-6 weeks. We’re now about to reach the six week point in his recovery. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, it is crucial for Mykel Williams to get back to strong health. Georgia’s defensive line needs him.

Dan Jackson (Safety #17) – There’s never a play in which Dan Jackson is not giving 100% effort. This past weekend, he again led the Georgia defense in tackles. The walk-on continues to show himself as a bonafide playmaker. He has been a much-needed leader in the Georgia secondary and will continue to do so moving forward.

On a cold November Starkville night, Georgia’s 2022 national champions beat MSU 45-19, with Ladd McConkey scoring on a 70-yard reverse and catching five passes for 71 yards & a TD.
