By no means was Georgia perfect on third down, but the Bulldogs drastically improved after last week. The percentage may be a bit misleading, since every drive had a four-down scheme against Alabama. Yet, this weekend’s 54% conversion was miles ahead of the 20 percent success rate in Tuscaloosa. Of course these conversions put points on the board, but they also kept the defense off the field. Going forward, winning the time of possession battle will be detrimental in helping out a relatively thin Georgia defensive line.

8 – Straight wins against Auburn

Georgia has now won eight straight games against Auburn. The last loss came in 2017 on the road, before the Dawgs bounced back and defeated the Tigers 28-7 in the SEC Championship. In what has historically been a hard fought, physical battle on the Plains or Between the Hedges, Kirby’s Dawgs have dominated The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry under his regime. Some fans have gained complacency and feel that this game should be another push over, as Auburn has had their struggles. However, the true Dawg fans out there understand what this success means in one of the biggest rivalries in all of college football.

1- Auburn Touchdown

After giving up five touchdowns to the Tide, the Bulldogs defense rallied back to their typical form, limiting the Tigers to just one touchdown. Their one touchdown came on a breakaway rush from senior back Jarquez Hunter. Georgia had an opportunity to bring him down, but a missed tackle helped Hunter win on the outside and take the ball 38 yards to the house. While Auburn’s offense may not be as stout as what the Dawgs faced last week, a lot of credit goes to Georgia’s coaching staff on the defensive side of the ball for limiting their offense to just 200 yards passing.
