This week for my players of the game, I will take a different look at the game by looking into the future instead of the past. Last Saturday was a day in Bulldog history that we would rather not talk about… so we won’t. We are in the playoffs now. Tennessee is our only focus. I will give you my wish list for the offense, the defense, the special teams, and who I will anoint as the unsung hero of the game. For our young Bulldogs: this list is equivalent to your toy list at Christmas, we would really love to have these toys under the tree come Saturday night!
Offensive Player
• For our offensive line to work together and communicate, dominating in the rushing game.
• For Nate Frazier to get 131 yards on 21 carries.
• For Carson Beck to only throw to people in red jerseys.
• For our tight ends to block and catch every pass thrown to them. Yes, I said every pass thrown to them.
• And to have no turnovers, which at this point, we might have a better chance to have Santa show up at the game for reals.
• Score 37 points.
Defensive Player
• Play with controlled fury.
• Gang tackle like they stole your grandmother’s jewelry.
• Know your assignment.
• Mykel Williams plays the game of his career.
• The red wall shows up and shuts down Tennessee’s run game.
• We have three turnovers in the first half.
• Coach Smart gets tackled running onto the field to celebrate the defense’s third touchdown of the night.
• Limit Tennessee to 20 points.
Special Teams Player
• Brett Thorson, the thunder from down under keeps doing what he does oh so well!
• Peyton Woodring, make sure that you keep doing what you’re doing. That’s scoring at every opportunity and kicking the damn ball out of the end zone.
• That our coverage teams keep up the tremendous job they have done all year like flipping the field and limiting return yards.
Unsung Hero of the Game
• The fans. The student body rocking the stadium like never before.
• Tennessee fans think they’re louder than Georgia. Let’s knock them back to the mountains where they belong.
• I need the crowd to be there early and know that they will make a difference in the game.
• When we win, I do not want you to tear down the goal post at Georgia because nobody deserves our money except us. We bleed our blood! We’ve been here before! We’ve won football games! Let’s get another W!
