It’s that time of year… eyes around the world turn to quaint Augusta, Georgia for the most prestigious golf tournament in the world. Where magnolias sway in the wind, where azaleas aren’t just flowers, where pimento cheese and egg salad sandwiches are still less than two dollars, where cutthroat competition is masked with nature’s serenity… There, tucked away in old Georgia pines, a green Jacket is at stake and a field filled with seven Dawgs have the chance to take it.

They say it’s “a tradition unlike any other”, and of that sacred history at Augusta National, one of the Damn Good Dawgs on Tour made one of those unexplainable Masters Moments. In 2012, Bubba Watson hit a drive on the 10th hole in the second hole of a playoff against Louis Oosthuizen. The drive faded far right of the fairway. Some 155 yards away from the hole, Watson had a near impossible shot at the green… impossible became possible.

The lefty, crammed between hundreds of patrons behind a magnolia, hit a snap hook shot 12 feet from the hole, leaving him a two putt to save par and seal the victory for his first green jacket.

13 years later, a two-time champion (his second came in 2014) returns to Augusta. Past his prime, Watson has since gone to the LIV Tour, but in Augusta, his legend lives on.

Now, six other Dawgs will try to accomplish what Watson once did and become just the second former UGA golfer to clinch a major victory in Augusta.

Sepp Straka (+8000) and Russell Henley (+5500) lead the odds markets for the Dawgs… great value for the No. 2 and No. 3 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings. The young Davis Thompson follows at +12000 while Brian Harman (+13000) and Harris English (+19000) close out the available odds according to CBS Sports. Chris Kirk is the final Bulldog competing with odds unavailable.

Harman is the only current Dawg on Tour with a major victory, coming in 2023 when he put on a putting clinic to win by six strokes at -13 and top second place finisher Straka. Harman found himself as high as No. 9 in the world to close out 2023 and a member of the American Ryder Cup team. Since then, it has been somewhat of a tougher road, winning no tournaments and having yet to finish in the top 10 in nine events played this season. Can the experienced lefty climb back into the top 10 and maybe even find himself atop the leaderboard come Sunday in Augusta? His putting prowess must surely find rhythm again in order to do so.

Straka seems to be one of the most intriguing golfers with longer odds than 20-1. Of course, the Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Ludwig Aberg, Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau picks are favorites; however, for the No. 13 golfer in the world, his odds fall far down the list with many names behind him in rankings ahead of him in Masters projections.

With three top 10 finishes, including his win at the American Express in January, Straka is eighth in total strokes gained, seventh in tee-to-green, fifth in approaching the green, third in proximity to hole, second in both driving efficiency and greens in regulation percentage (73.25%) and first in total birdies (186). Will the Austrian make a run at the green jacket just 219 miles from where he spent his high school days in Valdosta, Georgia? His dominance off the tee box with a powerful drive must be nearly perfect at the National while his consistency on the greens must remain if he wants a crack at the title of 89th Masters Champion.

Henley and English are the other two Dawgs on Tour with victories in 2025. Henley tacked on three more top 10 finishes, more than any other Bulldog this season, and is the highest ranked Georgia golfer at No. 7 in the world. 55/1 odds for Henley seem quite long as well considering his steadiness on the course throughout 2025. His win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational put social media in a frenzy as his adorable family stormed the green to congratulate the husband and father on his first victory since 2022.

How does Henley secure another victory for him and his family? When going for the green with a chance at birdie or better, Henley is second on Tour, making a birdie or better 42 times on 55 attempts in this situation. In short, Henley either left himself close to the pin, giving himself an easier putt, or came up clutch when further away, making the required putts to stay below par. In Augusta, this is always a key to victory and a success rate he must stay true to for a chance to get his first major victory.

Thompson just came off his first top 10 finish of 2025 at the Players Championship. Thompson is the youngest Georgia golfer competing in the Masters after joining the Tour just two years ago. The 25-year old Atlanta native will make his Masters debut come April 10. In his first Masters, what does it take for Thompson to shock the world? Thompson’s scoring average in round 2 is 68.1, good for 8th on Tour. That Friday isn’t Sunday at the Masters and not even Saturday, but it’s still an important day. Securing a spot above the cutline is always important and a strong day two performance can guarantee weekend play. Then, anything can happen over the weekend at the Masters…

These Dawgs on Tour can make a splash, and we’re all rooting for them back in Athens. There’s great value on the odds markets for these guys, and this is why they can put that green jacket on after four rounds.
