WGOLF: Sydney Givens Named SEC Golfer of the Week
Following her historic weekend at the Schooner Fall Classic, sophomore Sydney Givens earned SEC Golfer of the Week honors.
This marks Givens’ first SEC honor of her career as a Bulldog.
On Saturday, September 20, Givens opened the tourney with a school-record 63 in the first round, a bogey-free loop that featured seven birdies. She shot 9-under 201 to earn medalist honors at the Schooner Fall Classic.
She also shot 69 in the second and third rounds. On Sunday, Givens was 1-over through 13 holes and had slipped to third on the leaderboard when play was suspended for two hours due to the weather. She birdied two of her last four holes after play resumed to surge to co-medalist honors.
Givens and the rest of the Georgia women’s golf team will return to action on Thursday, October 16, at the Princess Anne Golf Club in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
