The latest High School football player to receive an offer from The University of Georgia, is Gainesville Georgia’s Chris Williamson. Williamson is a 3-star prospect who played both ways in High School as a Wide Receiver and Defensive Back. The 6 foot 1 inch, 190 pound Athlete has seen his recruitment blow up recently, drawing offers from the likes of UNC, UGA, California, Notre Dame and many others. I caught up with Chris last night and got some insight into his recruitment:
Me: What Schools are after you the hardest at this point?
Chris Williamson: Cal, Kentucky, UNC, Va Tech, UGA, UF, and ND.
Me: What does the recent in-state UGA offer mean to you?
Chris Williamson: It means a lot coming from Georgia. Them being the home town state, it really means a lot.

Me: Which UGA Coach offered you and for what position?
Chris Williamson: Coach Pruitt offered me as an Athlete. But I let him know that I wanted to play on the defensive side of the ball and he was pretty happy about that.
Me: Are there any current UGA commits or players that you are close with?
Chris Williamson: Yeah, I’m close with Darius Slayton. He’s a real close friend of mine. We grew up together playing little league football..my team beat his in the championship on year. We also went to school together from like 1st-7th grade.
Me: With your size you could easily play Safety or Corner in college. Which do you see as the best fit?
Chris Williamson: I see myself more as a corner back at the next level.
Me: What are your Official Visit plans as we approach National Signing Day?
Chris Williamson: UNC this coming weekend, Florida on the 30th and the rest is still in the works.
Me: What is the most important thing to you when choosing your college destination?
Chris Williamson: Good academics and an opportunity to play early is intriguing. Somewhere I can grow and develop as a ball player but also as a Man. I also want to go somewhere that the degree is going to matter a lot because I want to be prepared for life after football…it doesn’t last forever.
Me: When do you think you will announce your decision? Before or on NSD?
Chris Williamson: I’d like to have everything done before NSD in a perfect world…but you never know.
