[break] A two-out, two-run double in the seventh by Aaron Mizell lifted Georgia Southern past 18th-ranked Georgia 4-3 Friday at J.I. Clements Stadium.

[break] [break] The Bulldogs saw their three-game winning streak snap but the more pressing question Friday was the status of Georgia sophomore ace Robert Tyler and freshman left-hander Bo Tucker who both left the game with injuries. Tyler will have an MRI on his right elbow Saturday while Tucker was diagnosed with a groin injury. Tyler left with two outs in the fourth after registering eight strikeouts and allowing a pair of runs on four hits. Tucker came out after getting the first out of the eighth.

Georgia answered in the second, scoring two runs on four hits including an RBI-single from freshman Keegan McGovern. GSU tied the game in the fourth off Tyler as shortstop Daltony Busby provided a run-scoring single. Georgia reclaimed a 3-2 edge in the seventh on an error by Busby, allowing Stephen Wrenn to score after he reached with his second hit of the night.

[break] [break] GSU reliever Jason Richman earned a win to move his record to 2-0 while Chris Brown tossed 1.2 scoreless innings with three strikeouts for his third save. Moody took the loss to fall to 0-1.
[break] [break] “We didn’t have a lot of good at bats tonight and you have to credit Georgia Southern’spitchers because they did a good job,” Georgia coach Scott Stricklin said. “We need to have better at bats Saturday. I thought Drew came in and threw the ball well in relief of Robert Tyler, and we went to Bo for the left-on-left matchup, and the veteran (Mizell) won the battle against our freshman.
[break] [break] “ We’re staying positive and will wait to hear about Robert after he gets an MRI Saturday,” Stricklin added. “Bo’s injury was a groin. Through the course of a season, we know we’re going to have to battle through adversity, and we’re facing some right now with the injuries to Robert and Bo. ”
