The Bulldogs (10-4, 3-1 SEC) are an undefeated 5-0 at home this season and enter Friday’s match against Kentucky on the heels of a 4-1 road win over Auburn.
The Wildcats are 11-5 this spring and 2-1 in league play. They lost 4-2 at home to Vanderbilt in their last match. The Commodores are 8-4 overall and 3-0 in the SEC. They will play at Tennessee before arriving in Athens for the Sunday showdown.
Bulldogs in the Rankings: Georgia is ranked seventh in the latest ITA rankings, having fallen one spot from No. 6 due to its 5-2 loss at Alabama last Friday. Individually, Lauren Herring (No. 11), Hannah King (55), Ellen Perez (56), Kennedy Shaffer (58), Silvia Garcia (102), and Mariana Gould (109) are all ranked in singles, while the pairings of Herring and Perez (16) and Garcia and Shaffer (20) are both ranked in doubles.
The Last Time: The Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats 4-0 in Lexington last regular season but lost to the Commodores 4-2 in Nashville. Georgia managed to avenge the initial loss to Vanderbilt, however, by winning 4-1 in the semifinals of the SEC Tournament.
Series Histories: Georgia is 32-10 all-time against Kentucky and has not lost to the Wildcats since 2006. The Bulldogs are 30-9 in the all-time series versus Vanderbilt.
Unbeaten at Home: Through five matches this season the Bulldogs are a perfect 5-0 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Excluding its loss in the quarterfinals of the 2014 NCAA Championships, which were hosted by the Bulldogs last May, Georgia’s last loss at home was on April 11, 2014 against Alabama (4-3).
