[su_spacer size=”20″] The College Football Playoff (CFP) Selection Committee met this week in preparation for the 2015 season.

“We reviewed our process and procedures during the off-season and we’re very pleased with how things turned out last season,” said Jeff Long, committee chair. “The purpose of this week’s meetings was to continue to orient our two new members and begin to focus on the upcoming season. We look forward to reconvening this fall.”

The committee reviewed the time schedule for the weekly rankings announcements and recusals.

The committee members will produce rankings weekly beginning after the ninth weekend of games— same as last year. The members will again meet in person, on Mondays and Tuesdays. The committee will issue its first rankings Tuesday, November 3, and will reveal its rankings on ESPN each week. A final program announcing the Playoff Semifinals pairings, New Year’s bowl pairings, and Top 25 rankings will air on Selection Day, Sunday, December 6. The committee’s recusal policy remains the same as last season. The policy is as follows: “A recused member shall not participate in any votes involving the team from which the individual is recused.

“A recused member is permitted to answer only factual questions about the institution from which the member is recused, but shall not be present during any deliberations regarding that team’s selection or seeding. Recused members shall not participate in discussions regarding the placement of the reduced team into a bowl game.

“If a committee member or an immediate family member, e.g., spouse, sibling or child, (a) is compensated by a school, (b) provides professional services for a school, or (c) is on the coaching staff or administrative staff at a school or is a football student-athlete at a school, that member will be recused. The committee will have the option to add other recusals if special circumstances arise.”
