Bulldawg Illustrated is counting down the days till the Dawgs kickoff their college football season in Bulldawgs Countdown to Kickoff 2015, and we are down to number 20 Quincy Mauger.
[su_spacer size=”20″] Mauger is a junior safety for the University of Georgia football team and has blossomed under defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt’s tutelage since he came to UGA as a member of the 2013 college football recruiting class. A graduate of Kell high school out of Marietta, GA, Mauger played varsity football for Coach Derek Cook where he was named a Prep-All-Southeast Region.
[su_spacer size=”40″] As a freshman, Quincy played in 13 games and made 7 starts for the Dawgs racking up 57 total tackles and collecting 1 interception. Last year, Grantham who had been Mauger’s defensive coordinator and Lakatos who had been his Secondary’s coach were gone to be replaced by Jeremy Pruitt, and the sophomore safety blossomed into a ball hawk taking away 4 passes for interceptions and breaking up as many passes along with tallying 51 total tackles. He played in all 13 of Georgia’s games in 2014 and started 7 of them being named an AP Honorable Mention All-SEC player.

[su_spacer size=”40″] For 2015, the junior looks to compete and claim a starting spot at safety in Pruitt’s secondary on defense. He has been named to Phil Steele’s Pre-season All-SEC Third Team and Athlon Sports Pre-season All-SEC Fourth Team.
