The strong performance in doubles carried over into a strong singles effort in which the Bulldogs won four of six matches against players from Michigan and Princeton.
“Solid day for us here today,” said Associate Head Coach Drake Bernstein. “We played great doubles this morning, getting three wins against teams from Princeton. We’ve seen some great combinations this week and are excited about the options that we have moving forward.”
On a day that featured all new doubles pairs from a day ago, the nation’s No. 16 pairing of Silvia Garcia and Kennedy Shaffer were reunited and won 6-4 over Amanda Muliawan and Nicole Kalhorn. The sophomore duo of Hannah King and Mariana Gould also won 6-4 over Dorothy Tang and Katrine Steffenson. Laura Patterson and Caroline Brinson scored the most decisive victory with a 6-1 contest against Amber Park and Emily Hahn.
In the lone ranked contest of the day in singles, Garcia, No. 58, fell to No. 19 Ronit Yurovsky in three sets. After King fell in two sets, the Bulldogs responded by winning the next four singles matches.
