The Georgia equestrian team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a meet against South Carolina at home in Bishop, Ga.  The team will enter the second half of the season with a 5-1 record that includes a 2-1 mark against Southeastern Conference opponents. 

“I’m excited about our fall season,” head coach Meghan Boenig said.  “There are a lot of great things we can build on and continue in the spring, particularly as we hit some more road meets and SEC opponents.  The team will be focusing on school, getting rest and recuperating so that we’re ready for the first meet come January.  This team has a lot to offer, and we’re excited for the direction we continue to go.”

Georgia went 3-0 at home, improving their all-time at home record to 63-5.  Highlights of fall competition include a 10-9 decision over Texas A&M at the UGA Equestrian Complex in the season opener, a 14-6 win over No. 5 Oklahoma State and a 13-5 defeat of SEC rival South Carolina.  Additionally, Georgia riders have a combined 15 MVP honors on the season thus far.

Georgia was the preseason No.1 team and held that spot until its loss to Auburn on the road, after which they fell to No. 2.  Georgia will remain at No. 2 to start spring competition.

The Bulldogs also picked up conference awards with Lauren Garmon (Reining) and Liza Finsness (Equitation on the Flat) receiving SEC Rider of the Month accolades for September and November, respectively.

The Georgia equestrian team will be back in action on January 30 when they travel to College Station, Texas to take on Texas A&M.
