The 15th-ranked Georgia Gymdogss team will hit the road for the second straight week and will face an SEC opponent for the first time as the Gymdogs take on No. 16 Arkansas in Fayetteville on Friday at 8:30 p.m.

Friday’s match will be televised live on the SEC Network with Melissa Lee (play by play), former Gymdog Courtney Kupets-Carter (analysis) and Kayce Smith (reporter).

The Gymdogs opened the season on Saturday with a 196.925-195.200 setback at Michigan. Arkansas went 1-1 in its season opener, the Cancun Classic, scoring a 195.150. Michigan won with a 196.975 and Iowa was third with a 192.475.

“We are looking forward to getting back on the floor,” Georgia head coach Danna Durante said. “We saw some really great things in Michigan as well as some areas we can work on and improve on. We’ve been working hard this week, and we’re excited about getting back to work on Friday against a quality Arkansas team.”

Against Michigan, Mary Beth Box had a 9.9 on floor, Box and Brittany Rogers registered 9.8s on beam, and Sydney Snead had a meet-high-tying 9.9 on bars and a team-best 9.875 on vault.

“We were unified, we were a group, we were together and we were enthusiastic,” Durante said of the Michigan meet. “In the past, mistakes would’ve taken the wind out of our sails. But it was not that way at all. We’ll continue to get stronger and better. Everyone is focused on doing her job for the team.”

This marks the 32nd all-time meeting between Georgia and Arkansas, with the Gymdogs holding a 28-2-1 advantage. Last season, Georgia scored four career highs on floor, including a pair of 9.95s from Box and Gigi Marino, to rally for a 196.775-196.650 win at Stegeman Coliseum. Georgia was fifth and Arkansas was sixth at the 2015 SEC Championship at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth.

Georgia will have its home opener at 2 p.m. on Monday as the Gymdogs entertain No. 22 Stanford at Stegeman Coliseum. The meet can be seen on SEC Network +.
